No, I don't have any exciting Halloween/Samhain stories to tell you. I didn't dress up. I didn't go to a ritual. I didn't even pull out a picture of my dad for contemplation. I lay in the TV room and watched stand-up on Comedy Central, ate way too many Almond Joys—we got them for the trick-or-treaters, but the little bastards never showed up, so I was forced to eat them myself.

My roommate got dressed up as a Japanese schoolgirl, complete with plaid skirt, little barette, and blazer. I'm sure she was a big hit at the party she attended.

Later in the weekend, I did attend a Day of the Dead party at a friend's house in Somerville. There was a substantial geek factor at said party, as evidenced by the concentration of beards, ponytails, and slightly faded button-down black shirts.

At one point during the evening, a rather pasty-looking man pronounced very loudly "she went to the party wearing a very prim blouse and skirt, with a big red "A" pinned to her chest, and nobody got it!. Badger and I looked at each over and simultaneously clapped our hands to our cheeks. How could they miss the reference to that popular Hawthorne classic! After all, Demi Moore popularized it with a film version.

Now, bear in mind that I do possess a degree in English from a snooty liberal arts school and was once heard to utter the words, "Obviously you know nothing about literary criticism." I'd like to think I've matured since those days, though. Therefore, I think it would be perfectly justifiable to add intellectual snobbery to the 40 Most Popular Reasons for Taking Another Human Being’s Life.

Badger once asked me where I find all these crazy links. The answer is simple; I have to keep myself occupied somehow while the incredibly slow content mangement system churns away at my modifications. Yay, Microsoft products, for affording me the opportunity to keep my love of the Net alive.
