Three things:

  1. Had my first bona fide ritual since quitting About.com. With Badger. On Mabon. It was lovely. Set up an altar, cast a circle, invoked Goddess and God (Demeter/Persephone and Apollo to be precise), gave thanks for the harvest, raised energy, sent it out, and opened the circle. For an atheist, Badger sure does like him some pagan ritual. Oh, and then there was the lovemaking afterwards. That was nice, too.

  2. I a 1980s geek. Although I never would have admitted it at the time. Spacefem's site is a spendid thing indeed.

In addition to allowing you to read her answers to all manner of ridiculous questions, this lovely Linux user entertains you with the Militant Feminist quiz, in which at least one answer usually involves kicking a man in the groin, pouring kerosene on him, and setting him on fire. Alas, I am only 60% a Militant Feminist. Probably because I'm sleeping with the enemy. Although you'd think I'd get some points for dating a luscious honey at the same time!

    Says Spacefem about her site:

I've been running spacefem.com, in one form or another, for almost four years now. At first it was a random outlet for my whiny rants and the militant feminist quiz in text-only form. But it evolved. I came up with the idea for the useless blobs to make fun of everyone else, I figured out how to make my quizzes self-scoring. I think a good website needs a goal, a mission, something unique to it so people will come back. My site, for instance, is about how stupid men are and how cool I am. Your site can be about how bananas are totally gross or furry things rule. Then get people to link to it and learn some javascript to make some quizzes and you'll be there. Just be patient.

  3. Sinead O'Connor's new album is off the hook. The only thing that's more off this hook is this. If your girl is trippin', just send her one of these!

You can also watch video-produced versions of these urban greeting cards. They really are off the hook.

One caveat: The Off the Hook Cards site does have lots of annoying pop-up ads. Arm yourself with Popupkiller by right-clicking here and selecting "save target as". Then, unzip the file and install the .exe. Sorry, I don't have a Mac version, and the makers stopped distributing it. I think it's because the evil pop-up ad makers bribed them to, because I've been using it without any issues for well over a year.
