Things my mother taught me:

  • You can get more flies with honey than with vinegar
  • Kill with kindness
  • Even the coldest glacier can be melted
  • Befriend those who don't seem important: counterpeople, women who answer telephones. They will become your most powerful allies
  • Be nice for the sake of being nice
  • Avoid confrontation at all costs
  • One can do without many comforts and still survive
  • Be careful who you honk at: they might have a gun.

Things my partner taught me:

  • Don't be the one kid on the block who doesn't hit back
  • Justice is always worth fighting for
  • When diplomacy fails, don't hesitate to use force
  • Always negotiate
  • Talk to people straight up -- don't come from one down or one up. If you keep yourself real and authentic, they will hear you
  • Strategize. Don't let your opponent force you to move before you're ready
  • Wealth attracts wealth
  • Luxury is a form of self-care
  • Looking good is a spiritual necessity
  • Remain teachable
  • Be careful.
Things my Inner Wise One taught me:
  • Listen to me. Be still and you will hear me
  • Try diplomacy, but don't shy from confrontation
  • Treat yourself and others with respect.
  • No matter how hidden it may be, there is a spark of divinity within us all
  • Health attracts health -- love attracts love
  • Live as well as you can within your means
  • Sometimes you will not be able to hear me. Listen to what others have to say and check it against your own heart and gut
  • No one can tell you what the Truth is. You already know
  • Never lose your hope. In spite of all evidence to the contrary, there is a loving God/dess who wishes you health, wealth, prosperity, and happiness
  • Everyone has something to teach you. Sometimes the lesson will come out of your own mouth, but only in answer to the question of another
  • Be skillful
  • Create beauty.
