to give away what you lack
you'll never get your money back

If I listen to and enjoy the Music album, does that make me a poser? God, I hope not. Of course, one of the nice things about being 28 years old is that it's no longer quite so important what other people think about me.

I can hardly wait for 30. La femme à trente ans, Mr. Guertin used to say. I was bemoaning the fact that I was getting old -- at fifteen -- and he consoled me that it really does get better, not worse. "Just wait until you reach 30, Eliza," he'd say. "A woman of thirty is fully present in her body."

Well, it certainly did get better. No matter how crappy things get, it's still better than being me at 15 years old.
